June: A Month of Firsts

June is said to be a month of freshness, joy, happiness, wishes, and desire. Summer, long sunny days, and outdoor activities. What’s not to like about June?

For me, June was a month of rediscovery, joy and excitement. It was a month of Firsts.

My first experience as an “Ice-Skater”

The month started with the Queen’s platinum jubilee, celebrating Her Majesty’s 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. There was much celebration, jubilation, and merriments. My church in conjunction with churches in my town organized a party to celebrate Jesus in the life of the Queen.

It was exciting sharing the good news of the gospel, interacting with people of different races, making barbecues, singing and enjoying the moment.

My Ice-Skating Experience

The highlight of June was ticking off Ice skating on my bucket list. Yeah, I have always wanted to skate.

People indeed skate for various reasons, including exercise, fun, and competitive sport. Mine was for fun and my inquisitive spirit.

A friend told me I could take lessons and the best place to do so as a beginner is https://queens.london/.

Bookings were done online and on arrival, we were advised to change our shoes to skates before getting to the ice rink. Inside the rink, it’s all movement. There are no tables or chairs, barricades are available to lean on while resting or taking a break. 

As a first-timer, I must tell you I fell multiple times before getting a grip on the right skating position for movement. The learning process was fun and exciting. Ice-Skating is an activity worth trying.

I should also share that I started the blog this month. Long overdue right? Like I said earlier, this month is also a month of rediscovery.  Fashion and style allow individuals to create images of themselves, expressing their identity to other people. I want women to freely express themselves through style and enjoy the little things the world has to offer. I had some traces of doubt while starting this. I doubted having the available resources, my writing skills and even my ability to share this with people. 

However, there is always a first time for everything. Don’t be afraid to fail. Be afraid not to try!
